The history of Cristal Center

Located on a very busy main road and in the immediate vicinity of the motorway, Cristal will be able to share its qualities with customers from all walks of life. Very easily accessible, thanks to its exceptional location, halfway between the motorway interchange and the heart of Martigny, along a busy road, Cristal has nearly 400 parking spaces, including 300 covered, on the third level, under the roof. A peripheral ramp, hidden between the thermal envelope and the facade, leads motorists into this bright and airy car park.

Visitors then have the choice to reach the lower levels where the shops are located, between glass elevators or gently sloping moving walkways. Cristal is also accessible on foot from the heart of Martigny and by public transport, thanks to the PostBus line Martigny-Saillon-Leytron-Sion whose buses stop approximately every thirty minutes in front of the center.

Fruit of the know-how and the will to innovate of the architectural firm Christian Constantin, the building takes on the elegance of a thoughtful architecture. Its heart is made up of a generous atrium surmounted by a glass roof. Bathed in natural light, it functions as a reference space that visually connects the three levels of the building.



Particular attention has been paid to the choice of materials and the treatment of details, in order to free up the space and make it understandable. Any visual obstacle is removed. Thus, the balustrades bordering the atrium are only of laminated glass without frames. The structures carrying the glass elevators, the moving walkways, as well as the glass roof of the center, are reduced to the strict minimum and made up of round tubes painted white. The floors are covered with polished natural stone, also used for the mullions between the stores' blinds. All this made it possible to create a visually homogeneous whole while meeting the functional criteria of the place.
